Duke opens conference play against Virginia Tech
Jan 4, 2009 - 3:05 PM Virginia Tech (9-4) at No. 5 Duke (11-1), 7:45 p.m. ESTDURHAM, North Carolina (Ticker) -- Fifth-ranked Duke will try and start Atlantic Coast Conference play off on the right foot when it visits Virginia Tech on Sunday.
The Blue Devils have rebounded from their first loss of the season with three straight blowout wins, including Wednesday's 92-51 victory over Loyola, Maryland.
Kyle Singler had 20 points, eight rebounds and six steals in the win and the sophomore leads the team in scoring at 16.3 points per game.
Virginia Tech has won a season-high four straight games, including last Monday's 75-66 triumph over Charleston Southern.
A.D. Vassallo and Malcolm Delaney each scored 16 points in the win. Vassallo leads the club in scoring at 19 per contest.
Duke won the lone meeting last season, 81-64, at Virginia Tech.
