Michigan St. takes on Ohio St. in clash of Big Ten titans

Jan 6, 2009 - 2:48 PM Ohio State (10-2) at (12) Michigan State (11-2) 7:00 p.m. EST

EAST LANSING, Michigan (Ticker) -- No. 12 Michigan State will be looking to keep a pair of winning streaks going when they host Big Ten foe Ohio State on Tuesday.

The Spartans will carry a 25-game home winning streak and a seven-game overall winning streak into Tuesday's contest. Only four games have been played at the Breslin Center this season, but sophomore guard Chris Allen has warmed up to the home fans, averaging 18 points.

Junior forward Raymar Morgan is leading the squad in scoring, pumping in 15.4 points per game to go along with his team-leading 6.8 rebounds. Morgan is joined on the front line by center Goran Suton, who averaged 9.7 points and 6.4 rebounds while shooting 67 percent from the floor.

Michigan State has cruised through its first two Big Ten contests, taking down then-No. 21 Minnesota, 70-58, on Wednesday and setting aside Northwestern, 77-66, on Saturday.

The Buckeyes are led by sophomore Evan Turner, who paces the squad in scoring (16.2 points), rebounding (7.1) and assists (31) while ranking second in the conference in steals (2.33).

Turner scored 21 points Saturday but it was not enough for cold-shooting Ohio State, which shot 35 percent in dropping a 68-59 decision against Minnesota.

Michigan State won the last meeting between the teams, 67-60, in the Big Ten tournament last season.
