Villanova looks to even Big East mark against Seton Hall

Jan 6, 2009 - 3:00 PM No. 13 Villanova (12-2) at Seton Hall (9-5) 8:00 p.m. EST

SOUTH ORANGE, New Jersey (Ticker) -- In the powerful Big East, it is vital for the top-tier teams to take care of business when facing teams from the lower half of the league.

Villanova will look to do just that when it visits Seton Hall on Tuesday.

The 13th-ranked Wildcats (12-2, 0-1) dropped their conference opener against then-No. 25 Marquette, 79-72, on Thursday.

Corey Fisher scored 21 points off the bench while Dante Cunningham and Scottie Reynolds added 16 and 15, respectively, for Villanova. The Wildcats made just 6-of-20 3-point attempts while they allowed the Golden Eagles to sink 10-of-24 shots from the arc.

It was Villanova's second consecutive loss to a ranked team. The Wildcats also lost to then-No. 6 Texas, 67-58, on December 9.

Seton Hall (9-5, 0-2) lost its first two conference games by an average of 25 points. Syracuse smoked the Pirates, 100-76, on December 30 while West Virginia rolled over them, 92-66, on Saturday.

Jeremy Hazell, who ranks second in the Big East in scoring at 22.9 points per game, scored 29 points against the Mountaineers. Eugene Harvey added 13.
