CHAPEL HILL, North Carolina (Ticker) -- North Carolina did not pass its first test of the season.

The third-ranked Tar Heels hope to bounce back from a shocking loss to Boston College when they host the College of Charleston on Wednesday.

After cruising through its first 13 games in which it won by an average of 26.4 points, North Carolina finally played a close contest and was stunned at home in its Atlantic Coast Conference opener, 85-78, against Boston College. The Tar Heels' lowest margin of victory this season has been 15 points.

Tyler Hansbrough had 21 points and nine rebounds in the loss for North Carolina, which shot 29 percent (12-of-41) in the second half. Hansbrough is averaging 22.8 points and 7.8 rebounds this season.

With a showdown at unbeaten No. 4 Wake Forest set for Sunday, North Carolina cannot look past Charleston, which is 5-0 on the road.

The Cougars had their nine-game winning streak snapped in their last game, falling to Davidson in a Southern Conference contest, 79-75, on December 29.

Andrew Goudelock, who scored 22 points in the loss, leads five players in double figures for Charleston at 17.9 per contest.
