Dec 2, 2006 - 2:56 PM Manhattan (2-3) at No. 17 Memphis (4-1) 1:00 pm EST

MEMPHIS, Tennessee (Ticker) -- Memphis' balanced scoring attack has enabled coach John Calipari's team get off to a fine start.

The 17th-ranked Tigers look for their fifth victory in six games Saturday when they host Manhattan in their first matchup since 1957.

Memphis is averaging nearly 88 points, an eight-point improvement over last season, when they won a school-record 33 games and advanced to the regional final of the NCAA Tournament before losing to UCLA.

Chris Douglas-Roberts averages 15 points and tops four players in double figures. The sophomore guard is the only player to score 20 points this season for the Tigers, including a season-high 26 against Georgia Tech.

After defeating Kentucky in the consolation game of the Maui Invitational, the Tigers forced 25 turnovers in Wednesday's 86-60 triumph over Arkansas State. Antonio Anderson scored 17 points and Jeremy Hunt had 15 for Memphis.

The Tigers have won 29 of their last 31 home contests and will be facing a Manhattan squad that is looking to snap a three-game losing streak.

Guy Ngarndi scored 16 points, Jamel Ferguson added 15 and Partick Bouli grabbed 11 rebounds for the Jaspers in Thursday's 70-66 loss to Fordham.

Manhattan won the last meeting over Memphis, 88-69, on December 21, 1957, which evened the all-time series, 1-1.
