12th-ranked LSU hits the road for first time
Dec 2, 2006 - 3:31 PM No. 12 LSU (5-1) at Tulane (4-2) 3:00 pm ESTNEW ORLEANS (Ticker) -- Louisiana State finally hits the road this season but only has to drive few miles away from campus.
Glen "Big Baby" Davis and the 12-ranked Tigers take their show on the road and will face off against intrastate foe Tulane on Saturday.
This will mark the fifth straight campaign the teams have met following a 20-year layoff. LSU has won the last four meetings since the series has resumed.
On Wednesday, Garrett Temple scored a career-high 17 points, Tasmin Mitchell added 16 and Davis finished with 15 for LSU en route to a 91-57 triumph over McNeese State.
"I believe we are still a work in progress," Tigers coach John Brady said. "We just need to continue to try and improve in every phase. We head on the road now and need to keep working hard because the road can be very difficult if we aren't totally prepared."
Junior David Gomez collected 17 points and 10 rebounds and Kevin Sims chipped in 16 in Tuesday's 80-54 triumph over Houston-Tillotson.
The Tigers lead the all-time series 123-83.
