Texas A&M looks to remain unbeaten vs. Pacific

Dec 2, 2006 - 3:34 PM Pacific (3-3) at No. 8 Texas A&M (6-0) 3:00 pm EST

COLLEGE STATION, Texas (Ticker) -- Even in an early-season game, Texas A&M has a lot to lose.

The eighth-ranked Aggies aim to remain unbeaten when they take on Pacific at home on Saturday.

The Aggies are looking to extend an impressive 28-game non-conference winning streak and remain undefeated on the season with their seventh straight home win to start the campaign. Last season, Texas A&M started with 10 straight wins - all on their home floor - but the Tigers ended the streak with a 63-56 victory on January 3.

On Monday, Acie Law IV finished with 17 points on 7-of-8 shooting from the field for the Aggies in a 75-35 victory over Arkansas-Little Rock. Texas A&M wasted little time in taking control, jumping out to a 9-2 lead in the first two minutes of the game.

By halftime, A&M held a 43-17 advantage due to 54 percent (13-of-24) shooting from the floor and 14-of-14 from the free-throw line.

The Aggies have held their last three opponents - Saint Louis, Idaho State and Arkansas-Little Rock - to a combined 112 points.

Steffan Johnson scored a career-high 23 points as Pacific avoided a three-game losing streak with a 79-72 victory over San Francisco on Wednesday. The Tigers did not lose four games last season until December 20.

Texas A&M is 5-2 all time against Pacific but hasn't hosted the Tigers since the 1960-61 campaign.
