Abrams, Texas looks to bounce back

Jan 10, 2009 - 11:37 AM Iowa State (11-4) at No. 7 Texas (11-3), 4:00 p.m. EST

AUSTIN, Texas (Ticker) -- A.J. Abrams and seventh-ranked Texas hope to rebound from a loss when they host Iowa State in the Big 12 Conference opener for both teams on Saturday.

The Longhorns were defeated, 67-61, at Arkansas on Tuesday - their second loss in four games.

Abrams had his worst game of the season, scoring a season-low seven points on 3-of-16 shooting in the loss.

The senior is shooting 30 percent (17-of-56) over his last four games, averaging 11.3 points over that span. Abrams was scoring 20.9 points over Texas' first 10 contests of the season.

Texas has won the past three meetings with Iowa State but could be caught looking ahead to an early showdown with No. 6 Oklahoma on Monday.

The Cyclones come into the game on a season-high four-game winning streak after Tuesday's 64-56 triumph over Houston Baptist.

Craig Brackins had 22 points, 16 rebounds and five blocks in the win. The sophomore is averaging 18.3 and 8.5 rebounds to lead Iowa State.
