Michigan State aims for ninth straight win

Jan 10, 2009 - 11:28 AM Kansas (11-3) at No. 12 Michigan State (12-2), 1:00 p.m. EST

EAST LANSING, Michigan (Ticker) -- Since an embarrassing 35-point loss to North Carolina, Michigan State has rebounded quite nicely.

The 12th-ranked Spartans go for their ninth straight win when they host Kansas on Saturday.

Over its eight-game winning streak, Michigan State has failed to yield 70 points to any of its opponents. The Spartans allowed 98 to North Carolina in the loss on December 3.

Michigan State won its first three Big Ten Conference games, including Tuesday's 67-58 triumph over Ohio State.

Kalin Lucas scored 20 points in the win and Raymar Morgan had his third straight double-double with 13 and 10 rebounds. Morgan leads the team at 15.2 points and 7.0 rebounds per game.

Kansas has won its last three games and will be looking for one more marquee non-conference victory before it begins Big 12 Conference play.

The Jayhawks, who defeated Tennessee on January 3, are coming off a 91-84 victory over Siena on Tuesday.

Cole Aldrich had 24 points and 13 rebounds in the win for the defending national champions. Sherron Collins added 18 points and leads the team at 17.6 per game.
