Louisville, Notre Dame set for another Big East clash

Jan 12, 2009 - 5:21 PM No. 13 Notre Dame (12-3) at No. 20 Louisville (11-3) 7:00 p.m. EST

LOUISVILLE, Kentucky (Ticker) -- After a narrow but impressive road win, things do not get any easier for Louisville as they return home to host two more ranked Big East foes this week.

The 20th-ranked Cardinals look to remain unbeaten in league play when they welcome No. 13 Notre Dame to Freedom Hall on Monday.

Louisville (11-3, 2-0 Big East) let all of an 11-point second-half lead against Villanova slip away before Terrence Williams' layup with 12 seconds left put it ahead, 61-60. A couple of last ditch efforts by the Wildcats rolled off the rim to allow the Cardinals to escape with the win.

Earl Clark led the way with 16 points and 11 rebounds and Williams contributed 10 points, 14 rebounds and six assists.

Following its meeting with Notre Dame, Louisville hosts top-ranked Pittsburgh on Saturday.

The Fighting Irish (12-3, 3-1) have won consecutive games after a shocking conference loss to St. Johns, thanks mostly to the continued dominance of Luke Harangody.

The junior posted 30 points and 14 rebounds in an 88-79 win over Seton Hall on Saturday. It was his fifth straight double-double and 10th of the season.

Tory Jackson and Kyle McAlarney added 18 points apiece in the win.
