Baylor, Texas A&M look for encore of five-overtime classic

Jan 14, 2009 - 12:10 PM No. 21 Baylor (13-2) at Texas A&M (14-2) 9:30 p.m. EST

COLLEGE STATION, Texas (Ticker) -- Texas A&M and Baylor probably hope this year's matchup in College Station is finished in a more timely fashion than last season's marathon.

The 21st-ranked Bears visit the Aggies Wednesday, a year after capturing a 116-110 win in a five-overtime thriller.

Curtis Jerrells scored 11 of his career-high 36 points in the final overtime period, lifting the then-No. 21 Bears to their first victory as a ranked team in nearly 40 years.

Baylor (13-2, 1-0 Big 12) opened Big 12 play this season with a 73-61 win over Texas Tech on Saturday. LaceDarius Dunn led the way with 20 points off the bench, including 11 in a row during a second-half stretch that put the game away. Kevin Rogers contributed 14 points and 14 rebounds and Jerrells added 13.

The Bears bounced back a from a one-point setback against South Carolina eight days earlier, a loss that snapped their second six-game winning streak of the season.

Texas A&M (14-2, 0-1) had its 10-game winning streak halted in its conference opener against Oklahoma State on Saturday. Chinemelu Elonu recorded a double-double with 20 points and 12 rebounds and B.J. Holmes scored 19 off the bench.

The Aggies, who are unbeaten (10-0) at home this season, had their 15-game home winning streak ended in the overtime classic last season.
