Hot-shooting Minnesota visits Wisconsin

Jan 15, 2009 - 11:40 AM No. 17 Minnesota (15-1) at Wisconsin (12-4) 9:00 p.m. EST

MADISON, Wisconsin (Ticker) -- After a less than stellar performance from 3-point land last Thursday, Minnesota was perfect from behind the arc in its last game.

The 17th-ranked Golden Gophers will need to shoot more like the latter than the former if they hope to register their first win at Wisconsin since 1994 on Thursday.

Following a 52-49 win over Iowa in which it went just 34 percent (19-of-56) from the field, including 5-of-22 from the arc, Minnesota (15-1, 3-1 Big Ten) sank 9-of-9 shots from 3-point range in a 79-59 victory over Penn State on Sunday.

Devron Bostick and Paul Carter each sank a pair of 3-pointers and combined for 31 points off the bench while Lawrence Westbrook added 13 points for Minnesota, which shot 63 percent (30-of-48) for the game.

The Golden Gophers' last win in Madison came during a season that was later erased due to an academic scandal.

Wisconsin (12-4, 3-1) is coming off a 65-52 setback at then-No. 14 Purdue, a loss that snapped its three-game win streak to open Big Ten play. The Badgers have lost three of four games against ranked teams this season.

Joe Krabbenhoft was the lone player in double figures against the Boilermakers with 13 points while Trevon Hughes and Marcus Landry scored nine points each on a combined 6-of-26 shooting.
