Michigan State looks to keep cruising through Big Ten

Jan 17, 2009 - 11:20 AM Illinois (15-2) at No. 10 Michigan State (14-2), 4:00 p.m. EST

EAST LANSING, Michigan (Ticker) -- Michigan State looks to stay perfect in the Big Ten Conference when it hosts Illinois on Saturday.

The 10th-ranked Spartans (14-2, 4-0 Big Ten) are the lone unbeaten team left in the conference and come in flying on a 10-game winning streak.

Michigan State withstood a late charge from Penn State on Wednesday but hung on for a 79-73 victory. It was the first time since December 3 that the Spartans allowed more than 70 points.

Raymar Morgan scored 17 points in the win and leads the team in scoring at 15.2 per game.

Illinois (15-2, 3-1), which is one win from tying its win total from all of last season, is coming off a 66-51 victory over No. 24 Michigan on Wednesday.

Mike Tisdale scored 24 points for the Fighting Illini, who were swept in the two-game series with the Spartans last season.
