Pair of unbeatens clash when Wake Forest visits Clemson

Jan 17, 2009 - 11:20 AM No. 3 Wake Forest (15-0) at No. 9 Clemson (16-0), 3:30 p.m. EST

CLEMSON, South Carolina (Ticker) -- North Carolina and Duke were expected to be the top teams in the Atlantic Coast Conference. However, another pair of schools have other ideas.

Two of the nation's three remaining unbeaten teams meet on Saturday when No. 3 Wake Forest visits ninth-ranked Clemson in an ACC contest.

One more win would give Wake Forest (15-0, 2-0 ACC) its best start in school history, while Clemson (16-0, 2-0) can match its best start last attained just two seasons ago. Top-ranked Pittsburgh (16-0) is the other unbeaten team left in Division I.

The Demon Deacons defeated North Carolina less than a week ago and followed with a convincing 83-63 triumph at Boston College on Wednesday.

Jeff Teague has been spectacular for Wake Forest, averaging 21.2 points per game and 31 points over his past three contests.

The Tigers are coming off a 63-51 victory over North Carolina State on January 10, their 16th straight home win.

Trevor Booker is averaging 15.4 points and 9.1 rebounds per game and K.C. Rivers is scoring 14.7 per contest to lead Clemson.

Clemson has won just three of the last 17 meetings between the schools with all three wins coming in overtime. The Tigers won, 80-75, at home last season.
