Purdue eyes third straight win

Jan 18, 2009 - 6:29 AM Iowa (11-6) at No. 19 Purdue (13-4), 12:00 p.m. EST

WEST LAFAYETTE, Indiana (Ticker) -- After a disastrous start in conference play, No. 19 Purdue will try to move above .500 in the Big Ten for the first time this season when it hosts Iowa on Sunday.

Expected to contend for the conference title, the Boilermakers (13-4, 2-2 Big Ten) lost their first two Big Ten games to Illinois and at Penn State.

Following a home win against Wisconsin, Purdue rallied for a 63-61 victory at Northwestern on Thursday. JaJuan Johnson made the go-ahead free throws with 2.2 seconds to play for the Boilermakers, who trailed by 13 at the break.

Robbie Hummel is averaging 14.1 points and 7.9 rebounds and E'Twaun Moore is scoring 13.9 per contest to lead Purdue, which swept the season series with Iowa last season.

The Hawkeyes (11-6, 1-3) have dropped consecutive games, including a 64-49 setback at Michigan on January 11.

Freshman Anthony Tucker has been battling injuries lately but is scoring 10.8 points per game to lead Iowa, which is only averaging 62.8 points.
