Illinois hosts Ohio State in Big Ten matchup

Jan 20, 2009 - 2:02 PM Ohio State (13-3) at No. 24 Illinois (15-3), 7:00 p.m. EST

CHAMPAIGN, Illinois (Ticker) -- Ranked for the first time this season, No. 24 Illinois looks to bounce back from a loss when it hosts Ohio State on Tuesday.

The Fighting Illini (15-3, 3-2 Big Ten) posted an impressive home win against Michigan last week before losing a tough 63-57 contest at Michigan State on Saturday. Illinois led by seven at the break but could not hang on down the stretch.

Demetri McCamey leads a balanced attack at 11.8 points per game for Illinois, which can match its win total from last season with a victory Tuesday.

The Spartans (15-2, 5-0) hold a two-game lead over both the Fighting Illini and the Buckeyes (13-3, 3-2), who will try and avoid falling further behind in the standings.

Ohio State has won its last three contests, including Saturday's 65-58 triumph at Michigan.

Evan Turner, averaging 15.8 points and 7.0 rebounds per game, lead the Buckeyes with 19 and eight in the win.
