Pittsburgh aims for sixth straight win over SEC opponents

Dec 3, 2006 - 3:52 PM No. 3 Pittsburgh (7-0) at Auburn (6-2) 3:00 pm EST

AUBURN, Alabama (Ticker) -- Pittsburgh tries to make Auburn its sixth consecutive Southeastern Conference victim Sunday.

Entering the contest with a five-game winning streak against SEC competition, the third-ranked Panthers also place a four-game non-conference road winning streak on the line.

Pittsburgh has won 18 straight non-conference games since 2005 after a 67-53 victory over Robert Morris on Wednesday. Aaron Gray, who made 10-of-13 shots, scored 21 points and grabbed 15 rebounds and Mike Cook added 11 points for the Panthers, who shot 51 percent (27-of-53) despite a 2-of-17 mark from the 3-point range.

The Tigers won their second straight after a two-game skid with an 81-60 triumph over Louisiana-Monroe on Thursday. Frank Tolbert and Rasheem Barrett both scored 14 points for Auburn, which survived 22 turnovers.

Korvotney Barber had 13 points and Quantez Robertson added 10 and nine assists for the Tigers, who netted 11-of-23 3-pointers.

This will be Pittsburgh's first trip to Auburn. In their first meeting, the Panthers routed the Tigers, 78-41, nearly a year ago.
