Unbeaten Wake Forest hosts Virginia Tech

WINSTON-SALEM, North Carolina (Ticker) -- After climbing to the top spot, Wake Forest will try and stay unbeaten when it hosts Virginia Tech on Wednesday.

The lone unbeaten team left in Division I, the Demon Deacons (16-0, 3-0 ACC) are coming off a 78-68 victory at previously unbeaten Clemson on Saturday. Coupled with the impressive win was Pittsburgh's loss to Louisville, helping Wake Forest leapfrog No. 2 Duke into the No. 1 ranking.

Jeff Teague continued his excellent play with 24 points against the Tigers. The sophomore leads the team in scoring at 21.4 points per game, while James Johnson is averaging 13.4 and 8.0 rebounds.

Virginia Tech (12-5, 2-1) has won three straight games and seven of its past eight contests overall.

Jeff Allen had 30 points and nine rebounds as the Hokies defeated Boston College, 79-71, on Saturday. A.D. Vassallo added 16 points and leads the team in scoring at 17.9 per contest.

Wake Forest's next game is against second-ranked Duke on January 28.
