Baylor looks to knotch Big 12 road win at Kansas State

Jan 21, 2009 - 11:18 AM No. 23 Baylor (14-3) at Kansas State (11-6) 9:00 p.m. EST

MANHATTAN, Kansas (Ticker) -- After dodging a second upset bid, 23rd-ranked Baylor will look to repeat the feat when it visits Kansas State on Wednesday.

Following a road loss to Texas A&M, the Bears needed a pair of comebacks before escaping with a 98-92 overtime win against Oklahoma State on Saturday. After making just 5-of-16 from behind the arc against the Aggies, Curtis Jerrells led a long-range onslaught by Baylor (14-3, 2-1 Big 12), which avoided its third loss in four games.

Jerrells made five 3-pointers and scored 26 of his season-high 31 points after halftime to lead six players in double figures. Those were the only players to score for the Bears, who made 12 3-pointers.

Quincy Acy collected 17 points and 12 rebounds and Kevin Rogers added 14 and 9 as Baylor overcame a 17-point, first-half deficit and another seven-point, second-half hole.

Baylor, which has been in the Top-25 for a school-record six straight weeks, has five players averaging at least 11.5 points per game.

Kansas State (11-6, 0-3) is in the midst of its second three-game losing streak of the season, this time to open conference play. The Wildcats followed a loss to then-No. 6 Oklahoma with a pair of road defeats at Kansas and Nebraska last week.

Jacob Pullen is averaging 13.7 points per game to lead Kansas State, but was limited to just six points on 1-of-7 from the field in a 73-51 loss to the Cornhuskers on Saturday.
