Georgetown hopes to stop slide at Cincinnati

Jan 28, 2009 - 11:23 AM No. 23 Georgetown (12-6) at Cincinnati (13-7), 7:30 p.m. EST

CINCINNATI (Ticker) -- Hoping to avoid falling further in the Big East Conference standings, No. 23 Georgetown visits Cincinnati on Wednesday.

The Hoyas (12-6, 3-4 Big East) have lost three straight games - one coming out of conference at Duke - including a surprising 65-60 setback at Seton Hall on Sunday. The conference win was the Pirates' first this season.

Freshman Greg Monroe scored 17 points in the loss to Seton Hall for Georgetown, which visits Marquette on Saturday. The Golden Eagles are 7-0 in conference play.

DaJuan Summers is averaging 15.1 points to lead the Hoyas.

After a rough start in the Big East, Cincinnati (13-7, 3-4) has won three of its last four games.

Deonta Vaughn scored 23 points in last Thursday's 71-60 victory at St. John's, which wrapped up a 2-1 road trip. Vaughn is averaging 15.4 points and 4.9 assists per game.

Georgetown has won all four meetings since Cincinnati joined the Big East in 2005.
