Wisconsin looks to continue dominance at home

Dec 4, 2006 - 3:20 PM Winthrop (6-2) at No. 13 Wisconsin (7-1) 8:00 pm EST

MADISON, Wisconsin (Ticker) -- Wisconsin is almost automatic when taking on non-conference opponents at home, but that might not be the case on Monday night.

The 13th-ranked Badgers, who are 33-1 in their past 34 non-league home games, welcome Winthrop, which returns four starters from last season's NCAA Tournament team.

The Eagles are off to a 6-2 start, with their only losses coming to Atlantic Coast Conference powers North Carolina and Maryland.

Wisconsin is 6-0 at the Kohl Center this season following a 79-63 victory over Florida International on Saturday. Prior to that game, the Badgers posted an 81-66 win over Florida State, which upset No. 4 Florida on Sunday.

Kammron Taylor scored 16 points in the win over Florida International, improving the team's record to 78-5 at home under coach Bo Ryan in the past five seasons.

Senior Alando Tucker has scored more than 20 points four times this season and leads the team with a 19.1 average.

Winthrop opened its two-game trek to the Midwest with a 72-62 victory over Northern Illinois on Saturday.

Junior Taj McCullough, who had sat out the previous two games with a sprained ankle, returned and was 7-of-7 from the floor while finishing with 22 points. Torrell Martin also scored 22 points in the victory.
