Wake Forest hopes to avoid letdown at Georgia Tech

Jan 31, 2009 - 11:23 AM No. 4 Wake Forest (17-1) at Georgia Tech (9-10), 12:00 p.m. EST

ATLANTA (Ticker) -- After defeating the nation's top-ranked team, Wake Forest will try and avoid a letdown when it faces the lone winless team in the Atlantic Coast Conference.

The fourth-ranked Demon Deacons visit struggling Georgia Tech on Saturday.

James Johnson's layup with eight-tenths of a second to play lifted Wake Forest to a thrilling 70-68 victory over No. 1 Duke on Wednesday.

Freshman Al-Farouq Aminu had 15 points and 10 rebounds and Johnson finished with 13 and 11 to lead Wake Forest (17-1, 4-1 ACC), which held Duke to 33 percent (22-of-66) shooting, including 4-of-22 from the arc.

Demon Deacons leading scorer Jeff Teague was held to just 11 points after averaging 28 over his previous five contests. The sophomore is scoring 20.9 points for the season.

Georgia Tech (9-10, 0-6) have lost five straight games, including a 73-59 setback at Clemson on Sunday. Two of the losses during the skid have come in overtime.

Gani Lawal is averaging 15.6 points and 10.4 rebounds to lead the Yellow Jackets, who won both meetings with the Demon Deacons last season.
