No. 24 Kansas seeks seventh straight win

Feb 2, 2009 - 8:25 PM No. 24 Kansas (17-4) at Baylor (15-6), 9 p.m. EST

WACO, Texas (Ticker) -- Back in the top 25, 24th-ranked Kansas puts its unbeaten record in the Big 12 Conference on the line Monday when it visits Baylor, which is looking to snap a three-game losing streak.

The Jayhawks (17-4, 6-0 Big 12) extended their winning streak to six games with a 66-61 home victory over Colorado on Saturday. Kansas, which is one-half game behind Oklahoma (7-0) in the Big 12, completed January with an 8-1 record.

The Jayhawks have won 13 of 14 meetings against Baylor since the inception of the Big 12, with the Bears' only win during that span being an 85-77 victory in Waco in 2001.

Last season, Kansas outscored Baylor, 100-90, despite failing to make a single 3-pointer. Sherron Collins, who is averaging a team-high 18.3 points per game this season, had 17 points in the Jayhawks' previous win over the Bears.

Sophomore center Cole Aldrich scored 15 points Saturday, including 11 in the game's first seven minutes, as the Jayhawks improved to 6-0 in the Big 12 for the first time since 2004-05.

Aldrich, who is Kansas' second-leading scorer at 15.1 points, added 13 rebounds for his 12th double-double of the season.

Baylor (15-6, 3-4) is coming off Saturday's 89-72 loss at Missouri in which leading scorer Curtis Jerrells (16.8 ppg) was held to a season-low five points.

Jerrells scored 30 points against Kansas last season to become the 20th Baylor player to reach 1,000 career points.
