Welcome to the Monday college basketball slate. March Madness is right around the corner. I can almost taste it. I’ve been on a bit of a cold streak of late but that only means I’m due for a bounce back. There are some solid matchups today. Just remember not to force any bets you don’t love. There is still plenty of the season left.

College Basketball Betting Odds, Picks & Predictions: February 6, 2023

Here are my best bets for Monday.

Texas at Kansas

What an awesome game to be featured on today’s slate as the Longhorns hope to go into Allen Fieldhouse and take down Kansas.

These teams line up quite well with one another. Texas’ interior scoring abilities are among the best in the nation along with their ability to score in transition. The Jayhawks, however, rank 24th at stopping points off the breakaway. Texas also takes a surprisingly high number of mid-range shots. Kansas ranks fifth in the nation at defending those.

Usually, I’d lean heavily on home-court advantage, but we’ve seen Kansas struggle at home this year and Texas display an ability to show up on the road. Kansas is by far the more consistent team here. Though, Texas has a bit more momentum right now. 

I truly see this game as a coin flip between two top-25 teams. There is a high variety of outcomes with the high pace of play, but, given how each team’s defense lines up, I’m going to avoid picking a side with the spread and take the under instead.

Play: Under 146.5

Duke at Miami

For the second biggest matchup on the slate, you have two teams coming off nice wins this weekend in a quick turnaround game at Miami. Dariq Whitehead continues to be questionable for Duke, so make sure to monitor injury news for this game.

I expect Duke to win this game on the boards. They rank second in the nation at offensive rebound rate and 22nd in second-chance conversion percentage. The Hurricanes lack of size can hurt them here. They could have trouble scoring down low.

It truly seems like Duke is turning a corner with their current three-game winning streak. Miami doesn’t play any better at home than on the road. The Blue Devils should be able to control the pace of play, so don’t be afraid to bet on them outright tonight.
