Villanova hosts Marquette aiming for sixth straight win

VILLANOVA, Pennsylvania (Ticker) -- Coming off its first Big East Conference loss of the season, Marquette will not have it any easier on Tuesday.

The 12th-ranked Golden Eagles look to rebound when they visit streaking No. 13 Villanova.

Marquette (20-3, 9-1 Big East) had its 12-game winning streak snapped on Friday, falling 57-56 at South Florida. The 56 points were a season low.

Big East Player of the Year candidate Jerel McNeal scored 22 points in the loss but was just 6-of-12 from the foul line. The senior leads the Golden Eagles in scoring at 20 points per game.

Villanova (19-4, 7-3) has won its last five games, including a dominant 102-85 victory over Syracuse on Saturday.

Dante Cunningham tied a career high with 31 points as the Wildcats defeated their second ranked team of the season. The senior leads Villanova with averages of 17.1 points and 7.4 rebounds per game.

Marquette won the first meeting, 79-72, on January 1.
