Utah State goes for WAC title against Boise State

BOISE, Idaho (Ticker) -- After clinching a share of the Western Athletic Conference for the second straight season with a win in its last contest, No. 17 Utah State will look to claim the title outright Saturday with a visit to Boise State.

The Aggies (24-1, 12-0 WAC) are off to the best start in program history and aim to set the school mark for consecutive wins at 20 against the Broncos.

Gary Wilkinson recorded his sixth double-double of the season in Utah State's last contest, a 62-53 victory at Idaho on Thursday.

The senior is averaging team-highs with 17.3 points and 7.5 rebounds while Jared Quayle and Tai Wesley contribute 12.5 points a piece.

Boise State (16-7, 6-4) cut an 18-point, second-half deficit to four before falling to Fresno State, 88-82, in its last contest on Monday.

Kurt Cunningham equaled a career-high with 20 points and Mark Sanchez added the third double-double in his last four games with 10 points and 11 rebounds in the losing effort.

Utah State captured a 79-65 win in the first meeting between the teams in Logan, Utah. Wesley had a quality all-around performance with a season-high 26 points, eight rebounds, five steals and four assists.
