Xavier looks to keep pace in A-10

Feb 19, 2009 - 3:37 PM No. 17 Xavier (21-4) at Charlotte (9-15), 7:00 pm EST

CHARLOTTE, North Carolina (Ticker) -- Xavier looks for better success on the road when it visits Charlotte in an Atlantic-10 Conference matchup Thursday.

Following an 11-game winning streak, the 17th-ranked Musketeers (21-4, 9-2 A-10) dropped consecutive road contests at Duquesne and Dayton last week.

The pair of losses has dropped Xavier into a tie for first place in the A-10 with Dayton (9-2) - with a number of other teams still in the hunt.

Freshman Brad Redford scored 15 points and B.J. Raymond had 14 to lead six Musketeers in double figures as Xavier throttled lowly Fordham, 88-53, on Saturday.

Charlotte (9-15, 3-7), which hasn't won consecutive games since a four-game run December 6-30, should be a little bit more of a challenge. The 49ers are coming off Saturday's 69-51 victory over George Washington.

Lamont Mack scored 23 points in the win, and the senior leads the club in scoring at 14.8 per contest.

Xavier is 6-0 all-time against Charlotte, which includes a 69-47 triumph on January 28.
