Villanova looks to rebound from blowout loss

Feb 19, 2009 - 3:46 PM Rutgers (10-15) at No. 14 Villanova (20-5), 9:00 pm EST

VILLANOVA, Pennsylvania (Ticker) -- Villanova's six-game winning streak came to a crashing halt last Friday. However, the Wildcats should not have a problem avoiding its first losing streak of the season.

The 14th-ranked Wildcats look to get back in the win column when they host lowly Rutgers on Thursday.

Villanova (20-5, 8-4 Big East) suffered its most lopsided loss of the season at West Virginia last Friday night, falling 93-72. Da'Sean Butler scored a career-high 43 points for the Mountaineers.

Dante Cunningham is scoring 16.6 points per game and Scottie Reynolds is averaging 15.2 per contest to lead the Wildcats, who have not lost back-to-back games this season.

Rutgers (10-15, 1-11) should continue that streak for Villanova, as the Scarlet Knights continue to struggle.

Freshman Mike Rosario is scoring 17 points per game to lead Rutgers, which lost at Providence, 78-68, on Saturday. Rosario was limited to a season-low five in the defeat.

Rutgers won the lone meeting last season, 80-68, on its home floor.
