Pac-10 leader Washington visits UCLA

Feb 19, 2009 - 3:47 PM No. 19 Washington (19-6) at No. 15 UCLA (19-6), 11:00 p.m. EST

LOS ANGELES (Ticker) -- Washington is threatening to end UCLA's brief run of Pac-10 Conference titles.

The 19th-ranked Huskies look to stay atop the conference standings as they open their last road trip of the season at the 15th-ranked Bruins on Thursday.

Washington (19-6, 10-3) leads Arizona State (9-3) by one game and is ahead of California (8-4) and UCLA (19-6, 8-4) by 1 1/2 games each. The Bruins have won the last three Pac-10 regular-season crowns.

Winners of three straight games, Washington is the highest scoring team in the Pac-10 at 80.4 points per contest.

Freshman Isaiah Thomas scored 24 points to lead the potent Huskies attack in their most recent win last Saturday, a 103-84 triumph over Oregon. Justin Dentmon and Jon Brockman each scored 21 points and Quincy Pondexter added 20 in the win.

Favored to repeat as conference champions this season, UCLA has lost all three of its games against ranked teams this season.

The Bruins were swept at Arizona State and Arizona last weekend, their first back-to-back defeats of the campaign. Darren Collison scored 26 points as the Bruins fell at Arizona, 84-72, last Saturday.

The Huskies, who visit Southern California on Saturday, won the first meeting, 86-75, on January 24.
