Maryland seeks eighth straight win over Fordham
Dec 6, 2006 - 4:20 PM Fordham (4-2) at No. 22 Maryland (8-1) 8:00 pm ESTCOLLEGE PARK, Maryland (Ticker) -- No. 22 Maryland attempts to bounce back from its first loss of the season in a non-conference matchup against Fordham on Wednesday.
That should not be a major issue for the Terrapins, who have won the last seven in the series.
Maryland tasted defeat for the first time this campaign with an 81-74 setback to Notre Dame on Sunday. D.J. Strawberry scored 17 points and had a career-high six steals.
Ekene Ibekwe and freshman Greivis Vasquez both added 13 points for the Terrapins, who committed 19 turnovers.
Meanwhile, the Rams won their third consecutive game, a 70-54 victory over Iona on Sunday. Sebastian Greene collected 20 points, nine rebounds and four steals and Bryant Dunston added 11, 12, five and four blocks for Fordham, which forced 25 turnovers.
This is the first meeting between the two programs since 1975.
