Bradshaw gets one last chance to beat hometown team

Dec 6, 2006 - 4:38 PM No. 17 Memphis (6-1) at Tennessee (6-2) 9:00 pm EST

KNOXVILLE, Tennessee (Ticker) -- Senior Dane Bradshaw is a native of Memphis, but he will play Wednesday with plans of making his hometown team unhappy.

Bradshaw and the Tennessee Volunteers host their in-state rival the 17th-ranked Tigers in a non-conference matchup.

Last season, Bradshaw scored a career-high 21 points and added 10 rebounds, but Tennessee fell, 88-79. This will likely be his final encounter with the Tigers unless the teams meet in the NCAA tournament.

The Volunteers posted an 89-64 rout of Murray State on Friday. Chris Lofton scored 20 points, including four 3-pointers, and freshman Wayne Chism added 13 points.

Bradshaw and freshman Duke Crews both had 12 points for Tennessee, which did not allow one player from Murray State to reach double figures in scoring.

Memphis won its fourth contest in a row with a 78-59 victory over Marshall on Monday. Robert Dozier netted 16 points and Chris Douglas-Roberts added 14 for the Tigers, who held the Thundering Herd to 33 percent (19-of-58) shooting.

The Volunteers own a 10-7 edge in the series, but the Tigers have won five straight outings versus Southeastern Conference opponents.
