Clemson eyes third straight win

CLEMSON, South Carolina (Ticker) -- Clemson looks to stay in contention for the Atlantic Coast Conference title when it hosts Virginia Tech on Wednesday.

The 13th-ranked Tigers (22-4, 8-4 ACC) have won two straight and are 1 1/2 games back of North Carolina (10-3) for first place in the conference with four contests remaining.

Trevor Booker had 21 points and 12 rebounds and K.C. Rivers scored 19 as Clemson beat Georgia Tech, 81-73, on Sunday. Booker is averaging a team-high 15.2 points and 9.2 rebounds per game.

Losers of three straight, Virginia Tech (16-10, 6-6) is desperate for a victory.

Malcolm Delaney scored 25 points but the Hokies fell to No. 25 Florida State, 67-65, on Saturday.

Delaney is averaging 18.5 points per contest to lead Virginia Tech, which finishes the season with four games against the top four teams in the ACC. After Clemson, the Hokies take on North Carolina, Duke and Florida State.

Clemson rallied from a 15-point, second-half deficit to win the first meeting, 86-82, on Thursday.
