Villanova hopes to avoid letdown at DePaul

Feb 25, 2009 - 11:24 AM No. 12 Villanova (22-5) at DePaul (8-19) 8:00 p.m. EST

CHICAGO (Ticker) -- Villanova's last trip to Allstate Arena ended in a surprising loss to open a Big East campaign.

As this season's conference schedule winds down, the No. 12 Wildcats will aim to avoid a repeat performance Wednesday when they visit DePaul.

With a chance to surge closer to a pair of byes in the Big East tournament, Villanova (22-5, 10-4 Big East) can not afford to look past DePaul. Currently in fifth place in the standings, the Wildcats will be looking to build off a key road win in their last contest.

Dwayne Anderson led six players in double figures with a career-high 22 points and Dante Cunningham added 12 points, 12 rebounds and six assists in an 89-86 win at Syracuse on Sunday.

The Orangemen missed several last-ditch efforts to tie as the Wildcats swept the season series.

DePaul (8-19, 0-14) beat the Wildcats, 84-76, last season but has yet to record a conference win this season. A matchup with the Wildcats will be the seventh time in the last nine games the Blue Demons have faced a team ranked at least 12th in the country.

Dar Tucker scored his season average of 18 points and grabbed eight rebounds in an 80-61 loss at Pittsburgh on Saturday.
