Lady Dawgs Draw FSU In Women’s Tourney
Mar 13, 2023 - 12:00 PMThe Lady Bulldogs won eight of their final 11 games to close the season under new head coach Katie Abrahmson-Henderson. That strong close to the season was rewarded on Sunday evening as Georgia was awarded its 36th berth in the NCAA Tournament.
Though the Lady Dawgs had to sweat it out as a later announcement during Sunday night’s selection show, they eventually learned their fate as the tenth seed in the Seattle regional, where they will face No. 7 seed Florida State. The first two rounds will be in Iowa City, Ia., and a first-round win by Georgia would match them up with the likely opponent of second-seeded Iowa and superstar Caitlin Clark, considered one of the nation’s top players (but don’t tell fans of South Carolina women’s basketball that).

Win or lose, getting a tournament berth is a huge building block for “Coach Abe” in her first year at Georgia when considering that this team was picked to finish ninth in the preseason and would go on to defy those expectations, being tied for fifth.
