No. 15 Arizona hopes for better shooting game vs. San Diego St.

Dec 9, 2006 - 4:41 PM No. 15 Arizona (6-1) at San Diego St (8-1) 9:30 pm EST

SAN DIEGO (Ticker) -- Arizona needs to show its last performance will not become a trend.

Coming off its worst shooting contest of the season, the 15th-ranked Wildcats go for their seventh consecutive victory Saturday when they visit San Diego State.

Arizona missed 19 of its first 21 shots in the second half and finished by hitting a season-low 34 percent (18-of-34) from the floor in Tuesday's 72-65 triumph over Louisville at the Jimmy V Classic.

Ivan Radenovic scored 22 points and grabbed 13 rebounds and Chase Budinger and Jawann McClellan added 17 points apiece for the Wildcats, who had a 30-5 edge in free throws against the Cardinals.

Coach Lute Olsen can win his 768th game and move past fellow-Hall of Famer Hank Iba into eighth place on the all-time Division I list.

San Diego State has tied the best nine-game start in school history set on three other occasions. It also equals the best start in coach Steve Fisher's career. He went 8-1 with Michigan in 1989-1990.

After opening with eight victories, the Aztecs suffered their first loss of the campaign in last Saturday's 84-73 defeat to Western Michigan. Mohamed Abukar scored 17 points and Jerome Habel added 14.

Arizona has won eight of the last nine encounters against San Diego State and holds a 17-5 lead in the all-time series.
