No. 11 LSU hosts Texas in rematch of NCAA Tournament clash

Dec 10, 2006 - 4:07 PM No. 11 LSU (5-1) at Texas (5-2) 8:00 pm EST

HOUSTON, Texas (Ticker) -- Glen Davis has had a significant impact in December for Louisiana State.

Davis looks for his third consecutive double-double for the 11th-ranked Tigers, who try to extend their winning streak to four games in Sunday's matchup against Texas.

A 6-9, 295-pound junior, Davis has scored in double figures in 46 straight games and has 32 career double-doubles, including three this season. The reigning Southeastern Conference Player of the Year is averaging 19.8 points and 9.8 rebounds this season.

After scoring 20 points and grabbing 13 rebounds against Tulane on December 2, Davis collected 24 and 10 for the Tigers in Tuesday's 64-52 triumph over No. 6 Texas A&M.

Tasmin Mitchell scored 15 points and Garrett Temple 11 off the bench for LSU, who had a 35-24 rebounding edge and limited the Aggies to 37 percent shooting from the floor.

Texas has not seen action in eight days after the Longhorns had their three-game winning streak snapped with an 87-77 loss to Gonzaga at the Basketball Hall of Fame Challenge.

Kevin Durant scored a season-high 29 points and Justin Mason added 17 for Texas, which trailed 87-59 before scoring the final 18 points of the game. A.J. Abrams struggled, making just 3-of-17 shots, including only 1-of-11 from the arc.

LSU advanced to last spring's Final Four with a 70-60 victory over Texas in the Atlanta Regional final. The Tigers hold a 19-10 lead in the all-time series.
