Pittsburgh travels to Wisconsin; Gray questionable

Dec 16, 2006 - 3:08 PM No. 2 Pittsburgh (10-0) at No. 7 Wisconsin (10-1) 12:00 pm EST

MADISON, Wisconsin (Ticker) -- Pittsburgh may be without its best player for one of its toughest road games of the season.

With star center Aaron Gray questionable, the second-ranked Panthers will face seventh-ranked Wisconsin on the road.

The 7-0 Gray missed practice on Thursday with flu-like symptoms and is questionable for Saturday. He is averaging a team-leading 16.8 points and 10.8 rebounds per game.

On Saturday, Gray scored 19 points as Pittsburgh rallied from a 10-point second-half deficit to post a 70-67 victory over Buffalo to remain undefeated. The Panthers trailed virtually the entire way until Gray and Levance Fields hit back-to-back layups 24 seconds apart for a 59-58 lead with 5:14 to play, the first time Pitt was in front since 2-0.

Without one of the most dominant post players in the country, Pittsburgh's streak of 21 consecutive non-conference wins may be in jeopardy. The Panthers take on a Wisconsin team that has won six straight.

Alando Tucker scored 20 points to lift the Badgers to a 68-49 romp over Wisconsin-Milwaukee on Wednesday. In his last three contests, Tucker is averaging 23.0 points per game and shooting 55 percent from the field.

A preseason All-American candidate, Tucker netted 25 points against Pittsburgh last year in the Badgers' 73-64 loss.

Wisconsin has dropped its last four meetings with Panthers.
