Donovan has chance to tie school record for wins

Dec 17, 2006 - 4:29 PM Florida A&M (5-5) at No. 5 Florida (8-2) 6:00 pm EST

GAINESVILLE, Florida (Ticker) -- Florida coach Billy Donovan can tie the program's school record for wins when his team meets Florida A&M in a non-conference matchup Sunday.

With one more win, Donovan will match the school record of 235 victories which was set by Norm Sloan. This milestone should not be an obstacle for the fifth-ranked Gators, who have won all seven meetings with the Rattlers.

On December 6, Florida posted an 85-67 triumph over Providence. Al Horford scored 21 points and grabbed 13 rebounds and Joakim Noah added 17, four steals and three blocks.

Lee Humphrey had 12 points and Chris Richard chipped in 11 for the Gators, who are 15-0 all-time against teams from the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference.

FAMU recorded its fourth straight win with a 96-87 victory over Albany State on December 9. Leslie Robinson netted 34 points, including 10 3-pointers, and Rome Sanders poured in 25 points for the Rattlers, who survived 26 turnovers.
