Boyd leads New Mexico State over No. 21 Kansas

Jan 4, 2010 - 12:06 AM LAS CRUCES, N.M.(AP) -- Crystal Boyd scored 25 points to lead New Mexico State to a 61-60 upset of No. 21 Kansas on Sunday.

The Aggies (10-4) beat a ranked team for the first time since knocking off No. 22 Houston at home five years ago to the day.

Boyd, limited to 10 minutes in the second half due to foul trouble, hit one of two free throws with 0.8 seconds left.

Kansas (10-3) trailed by seven with 11:36 left, but Danielle McCray scored six of her 16 points to help Kansas regain the lead with 5:28 to play. There were three ties and three lead changes in the last 3:51.

The Aggies took a 60-57 lead on Jasmine Lowe's 3-pointer with 2:25 to play.

Kansas replied with Sade Morris' drive with 1:01 left, but Kansas center Krysten Boogaard could only make one of two free throws with 11.3 seconds remaining after she was fouled grabbing one of the Jayhawks' 18 offensive rebounds.

Boogaard finished with 15 points and 10 rebounds and Morris had 10 points.

Lowe was the only other Aggie to finish in double figures with 16 points. Boyd scored 20 points on 6 of 10 shooting in the first half and the game was tied at 34 heading into the break.
