Notre Dame routs Rutgers
Feb 1, 2012 - 2:31 AM Piscataway, NJ (Sports Network) - Skylar Diggins lead all scorers with 18 points as second-ranked Notre Dame dominated No. 13 Rutgers, 71-41.Kayla McBride had 13 points and 10 rebounds for the Fighting Irish (22-1, 9-0 Big East), who won their 19th in a row. Devereaux Peters tallied 10 points and 17 boards.
Monique Oliver dropped in 17 points and pulled down nine rebounds for Rutgers (17-5, 6-3), which dropped its second straight game.
Erica Wheeler chipped in eight points for the Scarlet Knights, who will look to bounce back as they travel to No. 3 UConn on Saturday.
Kayla McBride made two from the free-throw line capping a 19-4 run for Notre Dame as it took a 30-15 lead with 7:33 left in the first half.
Notre Dame controlled the boards in the first half and it translated on the scoreboard as they lead 40-23 at halftime.
The Fighting Irish opened up the second half on an 11-2 run as they extended their lead to 51-25 with 15:32 left in the contest.
