Jan 21, 2013 - 12:45 AM Berkeley, CA (Sports Network) - Layshia Clarendon scored a game-high 22 points with six assists to pace No. 7 California's 70-65 defeat of No. 14 UCLA on Sunday.Talia Caldwell added 14 points and 11 rebounds, while Gennifer Brandon posted 12 points and 14 boards for the Golden Bears (15-2, 5-1 Pac-12), who beat a ranked team for the third time in their last five contests.
Thea Lamberger notched 15 points for the Bruins (13-4, 4-2), who have dropped two in a row coming off a six-game win streak. Kari Korver and Alyssia Brewer each had 13 points in defeat.
Cal led 64-52 with 4:20 remaining after a Brandon layup, and almost lost the game, being held without a field goal for the remainder of regulation.
The hosts' largest lead of the contest was 12, at 26-14 on a Caldwell lay-in with 9:11 to play in the first half.
