Aggies punch ticket to second round with rout of Shockers

Mar 24, 2013 - 12:14 AM College Station, TX (Sports Network) - Kristi Bellock scored 18 points as the Texas A&M Aggies coasted to a 71-45 victory over the Wichita State Shockers in the first round of the NCAA Tournament at Reed Arena.

Courtney Williams added 11 points, Kelsey Bone chipped in 10 and Adrienne Pratcher handed out seven assists for Texas A&M (25-9) which as the third-seed will face sixth-seed Nebraska in the second round, after the Cornhuskers defeated 14th-seed Chattanooga, 73-59.

For the 14th-seed Shockers (24-10) Michelle Price was the only player in double figures with 12 points.

The Aggies held a 35-22 lead at halftime after shooting 46.7 percent from the floor while holding the Shockers to just eight field goals on 30.8 percent shooting.

In the second half Texas A&M continued to shoot well from the floor, netting 48 percent from the field while adding a pair of 3-pointers as it's lead ballooned to as many as 27 points.

Texas A&M had a 41-25 advantage on the boards and outscored Wichita State, 34-24, in the paint.
