Simmons helps Tennessee take down Ole Miss
Feb 7, 2014 - 4:46 AM Oxford, MS (SportsNetwork.com) - Meighan Simmons supplied a team-high 20 points to go with five assists, as No. 8 Tennessee took a 77-65 decision over Ole Miss on Thursday.Isabelle Harrison scored 18 points and grabbed 11 rebounds, while Cierra Burdick added 12 points and eight boards for the Lady Volunteers (19-4, 8-2 SEC), who have won five straight games.
Tennessee has also won 26 in a row in the series, including 11 straight at Ole Miss.
Tia Faleru registered a game-high 23 points and pulled down 11 rebounds, Valencia McFarland donated 10 points and 10 assists, and Gracie Frizzell finished with 15 points for the Rebels (10-14, 1-9), who have lost four straight and nine of their last 10 games.
Tennessee used an 11-0 burst late in the first half to help build a 37-28 lead at halftime.
The Lady Vols held Ole Miss at bay over the final 20 minutes, never allowing the Rebels to get closer than five before extending their cushion down the stretch.
