Lady Vols rally to top LSU in SEC quarterfinals
Mar 8, 2014 - 3:50 AM Duluth, GA (SportsNetwork.com) - Isabelle Harrison scored 21 points and pulled down 12 rebounds, and sixth-ranked Tennessee rallied for a 77-65 win over LSU in the quarterfinals of the SEC tournament.Basharara Graves notched 14 points and nine rebounds, and Meighan Simmons also scored 14 for Tennessee, which received 10 points and 11 boards from Cierra Burdick. Andraya Carter ended with 10 points for the Lady Vols (25-5), who will play third-seeded Texas A&M in the semifinals.
Tennessee trailed by as many as 15 points in the first half and was behind 34-28 at the break, but the Lady Vols, who shot 51.6 percent in the final 20 minutes, used a 19-0 run to take control of the contest. The Lady Vols also held a 25-5 advantage in points off turnvovers and a 52-18 cushion in the painted area.
Jeanne Kenney's two free throws moved LSU to a 55-51 lead with 8 1/2 minutes left, but the Lady Vols then scored 19 in a row. Simmons capped the rally with a pair of free throws with 3 1/2 minutes remaining.
Theresa Plaisance had 21 points for the Tigers (19-12), who also received 15 points from Danielle Ballard and 13 from Kenney. LSU shot 9-of-31 from the field in the second half.
