Top-seeded Terps cruise on their home floor

Mar 21, 2015 - 8:43 PM College Park, MD (SportsNetwork.com) - Fueled by 22 points and 12 rebounds from Brionna Jones, top-seeded Maryland coasted to a 75-57 win over the No. 16 seed New Mexico State Aggies in the first round of the NCAA Women's Tournament at the XFINITY Center.

Winners of a school-record 25 straight games, the Terrapins (31-2) advance to face No. 8 seed Princeton in the second round of the Spokane region on Monday night, where they will again play on their home floor. Laurin Mincy added 19 points in the victory, and Shatori Walker-Kimbrough had 10.

Brianna Freeman tallied 15 points to pace the Aggies (22-8). Sasha Weber was next in line with 14 points, followed by Tamera William with 11 off the bench.

Jones scored 11 of the Terps' first 15 points as they quickly built a 22-12 lead. She had 16 points at halftime and her eight boards matched New Mexico State's team total. Maryland took a 42-32 lead into the break.

The Terps added to their lead in the second stanza as the Aggies went on to shoot just 37.9 percent for the game.

Maryland enjoyed a 45-20 rebounding advantage.
