Bears bounce Hawkeyes in Sweet 16 rout

Mar 28, 2015 - 4:03 AM Oklahoma City, OK (SportsNetwork.com) - Sune Agbuke netted 23 points and secured 12 rebounds to complete the double-double to lead the second-seeded Baylor Lady Bears past the third-seeded Iowa Hawkeyes, 81-66, in the Sweet 16 round of the NCAA Women's Tournament at Chesapeake Energy Arena.

Baylor (33-3) advances to the Elite Eight for the fifth time in six years, and will play top-seeded Notre Dame on Sunday.

Nina Davis chipped in with 20 points and six rebounds to help out the Lady Bears, while Kristy Wallace came off the bench to contribute 17 points. Niya Johnson collected 10 points and dished out a team-best 16 assists in the win.

Bethany Doolittle paced Iowa (26-8) with 16 points, adding in seven rebounds and five blocked shots. But it was Samantha Logic who ran the show for the Hawkeyes, recording a triple-double with 13 points, 14 assists and 10 rebounds. Kali Peschel added 12 points off the bench, and Melissa Dixon netted 10 in the defeat.

The Lady Bears held a heavy advantage in points scored at the free-throw line, making 16 of their 18 attempts compared to a 3-of-7 mark from the charity stripe for the Hawkeyes. Baylor also owned the advantage in rebounding over Iowa in the win, 45-35.
