Rutgers comes back to edge Nebraska 66-63 in Big Ten tourney

Mar 4, 2016 - 1:42 AM INDIANAPOLIS (AP) Shrita Parker scored 18 points and 10th-seeded Rutgers came back from eight points down late to beat seventh-seeded Nebraska 66-63 in a Big Ten tournament second round game on Thursday.

Kahleah Copper had 17 points and nine rebounds for the Scarlett Knights (18-13), who move on to face second seed and No. 9-ranked Ohio State in a quarterfinal game on Friday.

Rutgers trailed by eight inside of 7 1/2 minutes. Back-to-back driving layups by Parker and Tyler Scaife gave Rutgers a 64-63 lead with 1:12 to go. After a foul at the top of the key with just over three seconds left, Nebraska had trouble with the inbounds play and threw it away. Rutgers was forced to foul, and Parker hit a pair to make it a 3-point game.

Natalie Romeo's forced, last-ditch 3-point attempt for the Huskers went off the side of the backboard.

Romeo led Nebraska (18-12) with 23 points and Allie Havers scored 16 points with 10 rebounds.
