Michigan State rallies past UC Santa Barbara

Dec 21, 2006 - 8:53 AM SANTA BARBARA, California (Ticker) -- Victoria Lucas-Perry helped Michigan State overcome an inauspicious start.

Lucas-Perry scored all 15 of her points in the second half as the No. 20 Spartans rallied for a 69-45 victory over UC Santa Barbara.

Shooting just 39 percent (12-of-31) in the first half to find itself trailing, 27-26, at the half, Michigan State (8-2) managed to surge back to avoid a second straight defeat behind Lucas-Perry.

The senior guard finished 6-of-12 from the field, including 3-of-6 on 3-pointers.

With the comeback victory, Michigan State coach Joanne P. McCallie collected her 300th career win.

Alyssa DeHaan paced the Spartans with 17 points and Aisha Jefferson added 12 and 11 rebounds.

Jenna Green scored 13 points and Jordan Franey 12 for Gauchos (4-7).
