Packer scores 24 as Ohio State tops Boston University

Nov 18, 2007 - 1:13 AM BOSTON (Ticker) -- Marscilla Packer scored 24 points and Jantel Lavender added 21 as No. 16 Ohio State posted an 83-68 victory over Boston University on Saturday.

The Buckeyes (3-0) shot 50 percent (13-of-26) in the opening half, but the Terriers trailed by just 37-33. But Ohio State sank 18-of-30 shots from the floor and 10-of-11 from the foul line to pull away.

Packer scored from all over. The shooting guard was 8-of-12 from the floor, including 4-of-7 from the arc, and made all four free-throw attempts.

Lavender converted all nine free throws and added seven rebounds and Star Allen chipped in 12 points and 11 rebounds for the Buckeyes, who outrebounded Boston University, 37-23.

Cheri Raffo converted 5-of-7 3-pointers en route to 23 points for the Terriers (2-1), who shot 43 percent (24-of-56) from the floor.
