Owens leads West Virginia to easy win over Georgetown
Jan 26, 2008 - 9:51 PM MORGANTOWN, West Virginia (Ticker) -- LaQuinta Owens scored 22 points to lead No. 12 West Virginia to a 67-35 victory over Georgetown in Big East Conference play Saturday.Owens, who matched a season high in points, made 9-of-17 shots and also grabbed seven rebounds for the Mountaineers (16-3, 5-1 Big East).
West Virginia posted its fifth straight victory since suffering an 84-48 loss at top-ranked Connecticut on January 9.
Owens was the only player in double figures for West Virginia, which forced 23 turnovers and held Georgetown to 30 percent shooting (15-of-50).
Monica McNutt scored 13 points off the bench for the Hoyas (11-8, 1-5).
